“Tweeting” About Food

It’s a restaurants guide… it’s a friend-finder… it’s a game… it’s Fiddme! Fiddme aims to be a local visual guide to the culinary wonders around you exposing new to new places and friends in your area.

Nothing annoys some Twitter users like reading tweets about everything someone else has eaten. But when you’ve visited a good restaurant, made something particularly interesting to eat, or you’re enjoying a particularly good dish or drink, you’ll want to share it with your friends so they can join you the next time you go.

If you have an iPhoneFiddme is an app that allows you to share the food and drinks that you enjoy, the restaurants you’ve visited, and what you thought of the meal with friends and earn points in the process.

Fiddme is a free app, supports iPhone 3.0 or higher, and works just as well on the iPod Touch and iPad as it does on the iPhone. Once you have the app installed, you can set up an account for yourself and begin connecting with other people in your area, or inviting your friends to the service.

The app focuses on taking snapshots of your food and sharing them with your Fiddme friends, and the app is somewhat new so don’t expect a lot of people on it just yet. Even so, you can get started by connecting with people already using the service regardless of where they live, and updating your account with photos every time you eat something interesting. Each time you post a photo, you add to your number of “bites,” which in turn increases your score.

If you live in an area where there are other Fiddme users (the service was developed by a startup in Israel, so there are a lot of restaurants available there if you’re planning a visit) the service will show you who in your vicinity has posted from nearby venues. You can tap any photo or update from a nearby user to see a map of the restaurant and other photos that users may have uploaded from the same place.
