The new iPhone app called Tap-Translate created by Ronen Drihem, Israeli developer, allows to translate words by tapping them while browsing the web.

Other translation apps make you switch applications, Tap-Translate translates the words while you browse the web.  Tap-Translate is the first translation app, I guess, that can integrate with the iPhone’s browser.

After one time installation of  bookmark in the mobile Safari, you can translate a words or phrases into one of more than 50 languages (incl. Hebrew). Translation of  full webpages are also supported as well as hearing the translate words.

No need to leave the Safari browser, no need for manual typing, copy-pasting or switching apps. Just tap a word and you will instantly get a “cloud” with its translation and options’ icons:

– hear the translated word pronounced

– translate phrases, paragraph

– translate the whole webpage

Another feature that might come in handy is the ability to easily enlarge the translated text. This way, it’s much easier to read text on the screen.

It works pretty well. Without doubt this app is worth the money.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
