The Bronfman Foundation announces the digital app of their bestselling Haggadah for iPad.
The Bronfman Haggadah is a collaboration between the late Edgar M. Bronfman and Jan Aronson.
The Bronfman Haggadah teaches people of all ages about the story of Passover with a fresh perspective while helping to define Passover for everyone at the Seder table. Bronfman captures the young reader’s imagination as the Haggadah allows each child, teenager, and adult to assume the role of a character in the Exodus story, or simply to become one of the story’s narrators.
Bold and brilliant watercolor art, created especially for this book by artist Jan Aronson, illustrate its main parts including the Seder plate’s symbolic foods, the parting of the Red Sea, the forty-year journey, the giving of the ten commandments on Mount Sinai, just to name a few.
The Bronfman Haggadah is a welcome addition for the avid collector, as well as to be used as the Haggadah of choice to enrich the Passover Seder experience with its refreshing interactive approach.
“I am so delighted that the Haggadah continues to have a life in the eBook format,” says Jan Aronson, illustrator of The Bronfman Haggadah and wife to the late Edgar Bronfman. “It was a joy to bring this to life with my late husband Edgar. Our combined talents make this so special for our families to share with everyone.”
Born in Montreal in 1929 and raised in a proudly Jewish home, the late Edgar M. Bronfman dedicated his life and work to Jewish causes. His love for the Jewish people informs his work at The Samuel Bronfman Foundation, named for his father and dedicated to inspiring a vibrant and joyful Jewish future. Bronfman’s experience as the CEO of Seagram Company Ltd. for more than thirty years, informed his work as the Founding Chairman of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life and his time as president of the World Jewish Congress, which he ran for more than twenty years.
In 1999, Bronfman was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor by President Bill Clinton. He holds honorary doctoral degrees from various institutions of higher learning, including Tel Aviv University, McGill University and Williams College.
The Bronfman Haggadah print edition was Bronfman’s fifth book and first collaboration with his wife, the artist Jan Aronson.
New York based but New Orleans born artist Jan Aronson has had more than seventy solo and group exhibitions. Her work is included in many museum, corporate, and private collections, both nationally and internationally.
Aronson received a MFA from Pratt Institute in 1973 and began teaching soon after. For the past 23 years she has concentrated on her work in a studio in Long Island City. Aronson is known for her nature inspired work that has taken her to the Sinai, the Indian Himalayas, Patagonia, the Amazon, the American West, the beaches of Anguilla and the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu. She recently wrote a lecture entitled The Contemporary Portrait and presented it in venues in the US.
Aronson’s work has been reviewed in numerous periodicals and newspapers since she began her exhibition career in the mid-seventies.
The app for the iPad is the complete Bronfman Haggadah that can be used alone or with an additional learning tool alongside a traditional Haggadah. Users of the app can also purchase the printed version of the Bronfman Haggadah from Barnes and Noble using a quick link on the main page of the app.
