Playing Music

Tonara, “Music that listens to you”, took to the stage with a string quartet to show off what it said was the future of sheet music – an iPad app on a music stand. Ron Regev,   a concert pianist and Chief Music Officer of the Israeli startup, described it as a Kindle for sheet music, with an iTunes-like store.

He played a classical piece on a keyboard, showing how the app listened to what was played – a red bar followed the notes on-screen, no matter whether he played the piece slow or fast.

This worked with the string quartet as well and when a vocalist was added. Tonara also promises automated accompaniment to singing in karaoke fashion.

Tonara enables you to download digital sheet music to your iPad, and is the first interactive sheet music app which listens to you playing and follows along by itself, whatever speed you play at.  It indicates your current position on the score and turns the pages for you automatically.  You can also record your performances and share with your friends.  So whether you enjoy playing classical or popular music, the Tonara app will change the way you play music.

With Tonara, playing music becomes a fun and interactive experience. Tonara is the next generation sheet music application.

It listens to you.  As you play, it shows where you are on the score and automatically turns the pages. You can playback your practice and performance sessions, and even share them with your friends.

Tonara provides a high quality music library with scores of various levels, instruments and styles.  Each of these scores has been formatted especially for the iPad viewing experience.
