Our greatest gift from HaShem (Pirkei Avos, 3:14)

“Beloved is man for he is created in the Image of HaShem. An additional dimension of love is that HaShem made known to man that he was created in the image of Hashem, as it says “Elokim made man in His image” (Bereishis 9).

We might assume that for the sake of humility it is better to keep a good deed a secret. While there might be some cases where humility enhances the deed, we see in general, that it is better to inform the beneficiary of the kindness that you have performed for him.

When a person informs another of the favor that he did for him, love and fellowship is increased between. Even though the Torah crowns humility as the supreme virtue, humility gives way to the enhancement of love and kindness in the world!

In this light, rather than keeping the great gift of  “The Image of Elokim” in the wraps, as one of the great secrets of the universe, HaShem revealed to mankind that He created us in His image.

The purpose of this revelation is to increase the awareness of the phenomenal love and compassion that HaShem holds for each and every human being.

May we reflect on HaShem’s great love for us and increase our love for him in return. In addition, may we inform others of the kindness we have performed for them, and increase the love amongst all of mankind (Based on the commentary of the Bartenura)

Today: Reveal a favor that you did  for a friend, with the sole intention of  increasing the  love between the two of  you.
