The Israel Defense Forces have unveiled its major smartphone application. The app, called Pakal, will allow soldiers, reservists and future soldiers to check their personal file, catch up on relevant news, and even begin training, simply using their phone.
The application is intended to make information more accessible to soldiers in the field, who often lack access to a computer, and to new recruits, who are part of a generation which uses smartphones more frequently than computers for Internet access.
Pakal is the main app of the IDF, housing all the official apps that were developed and will be developed, for the soldiers (enlisted and reserve) and their family. The application acts as a source of information and services that will expend with time and according to needs and its purpose is to allow quick and convenient access through smartphones.
Pakal is a project that is being led by IDF IT and public relations departments with collaboration of all the IDF forces. The apps includes news that are updated from the official IDF website, medical information, information database and connection to the IDF payroll system for the enlisted soldiers.
The recruits will have a quick access to “Olim Al Madim” (Wearing uniforms) website and even will be able to receive updates regarding their recruiting process directly to their phone.
