Israel’s three major cell phone companies will start selling Apple’s latest iPhone on September 24, the one day when stores will be open between the first day of the Sukkot and Shabbat. The day of the iPhone 4’s release in Israel was apparently chosen by global Apple.

The price of the previous model, the iPhone 3G, is not expected to drop significantly. The three companies, Cellcom, Partner and Pelephone, all committed to sell 60,000 to 80,000 iPhones a year for three years. Now, 10 months after the iPhone was launched in Israel, it seems like the companies will meet that goal handily: Each has sold about 50,000 iPhones so far.

Thus they are no longer investing in advertising and are not lowering prices.
