APP iGevalt is a 3D dreidel simulator for Hanukkah.
This app is a simple simulator of the dreidel itself. You can spin the dreidel with a swipe of your finger, or by using two fingers and “spinning” it. When it lands, a popup will appear that shows you what you got and what to do when you’re playing the game. There are real sounds of kids playing right along with you.
A dreidel is a four-sided spinning top, played with during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukkah, Chanukah, and Hanukah). Each side of the dreidel has a letter of the Hebrew alphabet: נ (Nun), ג (Gimel), ה (Hei), ש (Shin). Together, these form the acronym for
“נס גדול היה שם” (Nes Gadol Haya Sham). This translates to “a great miracle happened there”. These letters also form a mnemonic for the rules of the game played with a dreidel: Nun stands for the Yiddish word nite (“nothing”), Hei stands for halb (“half”), Gimel for gants (“all”), and Shin for shteln (“put”).
