Keep the Jewish tradition and display the acronym ,בס”ד on the home screen of your iPhone.

If a piece of writing is intended to be kept for at least a short amount of time, there is a firmly established custom to start by writing an acknowledgement of Divine assistance at the top of the page.

There is a tradition use the three-letter acronym, בס”ד (BS”D),  this stands for the Aramaic phrase b’siyata de’Shemaya, meaning “with the help of Heaven”. There is also tradition to use ב”ה (B”H). This is an abbreviation for the Hebrew phrase “Baruch HaShem,” which means “Blessed is G-d.”

The Lubavitcher Rebbe used to put ב”ה on his correspondence. The book “Toldot Yitzhak” by Yitzhak Karo, Yosef Karo’s uncle, offers the meaning of this custom of writing  ב”ה,  at the top of every letter, with accordance to the biblical verse: “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths” (Book of Proverbs 3:6) .

Both BS”D and B”H are not derived from any religious law of the Halakha, this is rather a tradition that people have accepted upon themselves.

New application Basad, created by Israeli developer Liron Zahavi for iPhone and phones with Android system, uses the home screen icon graphics to display the acronym בס”ד.  Also available in this application is a GPS based Shabbat lighting candle time reminder and Sefer Tehillim.
